
How was Surah Waqiah revealed?
Surah Waqiah is one of the surahs that we should read daily due to the many lessons that it teaches us and its many virtues.
Surah Waqiah is a Makki surah; it was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) while his residence in Makkah. It only contains 96 verses that are easy to understand and won’t take much time to finish.
Lessons from Surah Waqiah
The prophet himself instructed us to read it daily for its many virtues and lessons and to remind ourselves of the day of judgment. The surah discusses the day of judgment and what will happen to the believers and disbelievers.
On the day of judgment, people will be divided into three groups, the Companions of the Right, Companions of The Left, and The Forerunners. Each group will be rewarded or punished based on their deeds and what they did with their lives.
The companions of the right are the people who will be rewarded for their good deeds. The companions of the left are the ones who will be punished for their bad deeds. While the forerunners are the ones who will go to paradise first.
From the surah, we learn about the different rewards that will be found in the heavens, and the punishment awaiting the people of the left.

Surah Waqiah is known as the surah of wealth, reading it will make you have a better income or protect you from any financial hardship or poverty.
The prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said, “Whoever recites Surah al-Waqi’ah every night, he will never be afflicted by poverty.”
The virtue of surah Waqiah
For every letter we read we get 10 rewards, as the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said:
“If anyone recites a letter from Allah’s Book he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a tenfold reward. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter.”
And surah Waqiah is one of the surahs that contains many lessons and virtues for its reader. One of its many benefits is that it’s the surah for wealth.
The prophet (peace and blessing be upon him said):
“The one who reads Surah Waqiah every night, poverty will not befall him.”
The prophet also said:
“Surah Waqiah is the Surah of wealth, so recite it and teach it to your children.”

What did Prophet say about Surah Waqiah?
Abdullah ibn Masud reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessing be upon him) said:
“Whoever recites Surah al-Waqiah every night, will never be afflicted by poverty.” And Ibn Masud used to order his daughters to recite it every night.
The Prophet also said, “Surah al Waqiah is the Surah of Wealth. So recite it and teach it to your children”
What was the impact of the Surah Al Waqiah on the prophet?
The prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said:

Benefits of Surah Waqiah after Maghrib
It is reported that, when Abdullah ibn Masud was close to passing away, Uthman (RA) offered him a stipend for the work that he had done for the community, which Abdullah (RA) had never claimed before. Uthman (RA) suggested that, now that he was passing away, the stipend could be useful for his daughters. Abdullah (RA) simply said, ‘Do you fear poverty for my children? I have commanded them to read Surah al-Waqi’ah every night…’
Therefore if you want to be protected from poverty or any financial issues you should recite surah Waqiah every day after maghrib or before sleeping.
